Volunteer Opportunities
CMGA members are always welcome to work in the county extension offices or as mentors for MG interns! Contact the extension center nearest you to see how you can help.
Do you have a project for which you'd like to recruit fellow CMGA members? Contact us with your name, number, and a description of your project. If it meets the requirements for a Master Gardener outreach project, we'll add it to the listing.
Donations Needed!
New and used gardening books to be donated for establishment of a library at Elizabeth Park. Contact Paul Grimmiesen at 860-677-8645 or paul24wor@aol.com.
Working power tools (like gas-powered tillers and weed wackers) for the Foodshare Garden at Auer Farm in Bloomfield. Contact Marlene Mayes at 860-232-0363.
CMGA Project Funding Assistance
Qualified outreach projects are eligible for up to $300 funding per project through CMGA. Master Gardeners and MG Interns should apply for funding through their Extension Center Coordinator, who will forward the request to the CMGA Board. Advanced Master Gardeners should apply in writing to the President, Billy Baxter. The CMGA Board reviews requests monthly.
Written requests for funding should include the following:
* Project overview, location, and community benfit.
* Extension center coordinator (MG's and MG Interns only) approval signature.
* Project leader contact information and names of other MGs and interns involved.
* Start and completion dates.
* Names of other community organizations involved and/or contributing.
* Plans, site designs, plant material selection.
* Ongoing maintenance plan.
* Approximate costs.
