Would you like to help maintain these native gardens this summer? Ongoing watering, etc. will be needed. Check the Opportunities Page for details and contact info.
The Tolland County Master Gardener Class of 2010 took on a challenge from Robert Carter of Hebron Lions Agricultural Society. Could we transform an area of high visibility that needed titivation into an inviting “Welcome!” “Come In & Visit Awhile!!” showcase? AND…. (is there ever a gauntlet thrown down, that doesn’t have an and…or a but…involved?) can you do it with Native Plants?
Well…. Never, ever dare our class…. We thrive on gardening challenges and ‘could not resist’; besides, “Native Plants” evokes a very positive vibe for us.
Our task was to present an artistic living display, designed to highlight Native Plants. Click Here for details and pictures about Planting Day and maintenance activities.
Our gardens will be on display during the Hebron Harvest Fair September 9th, 10th, 11th & 12th 2010. We also have a booth where information on our new gardens, their providence for native wildlife, and the sustainability of a native garden will be highlighted. Will we see you there?
As the gardens mature, their attraction for people, as well as for native wildlife will increase as their self sustainability & low maintenance features become more evident. Although we won’t have any attendant Master Gardeners at the Renaissance Faire throughout weekends in September and October, our gardens will be showing off their fall color, sustainability & presence.
