Summer Safari IVCMGA Semi-Annual Meeting and Garden TourSaturday, July 26, 2008Bartlett Arboretum & Gardens, Stamford
Master Gardeners at the Bartlett Arboretum & Gardens in Stamford, CT, were delighted to host the CMGA Semi-Annual Meeting on July 26, 2008. The event opened at 9 AM, when CMGA members and their guests were treated to a home-catered continental breakfast of fresh fruit, yoghurt, coffee cake, bagels. It was a beautiful day, and attendees enjoyed their breakfast seated at tables set up outside the Bartlett's Education Building, under the shade of the surrounding trees.
At 9.30, a meeting of CMGA members was convened. CMGA President Billy Baxter welcomed members and their guests to the meeting, and gave a brief outline of the state of affairs of the Association.
Following the meeting, the Manager of Plant Collections at the Bartlett, Eric Morgan, gave an interesting and informative presentation to the group. Eric discussed the history of the Bartlett Arboretum, the importance of the plant collections on the property, and the future plans for this facility. A full report of Eric's presentation - and other events at this event - appear in the August 2008 edition of the CMGA newsletter, The Laurel.
Attendees at the Summer Safari then joined in on one of several tours conducted by Master Gardeners at the Bartlett.
Besides being the occasion of the semi-annual membership meeting, the annual CMGA Summer Safari event is a special 'thank-you' to members for their support of the Association and of the Master Gardener program in Connecticut.
